Quote of the Day: Anton Chekhov

This is a hoary quote, and if we’re being persnickety  (a favorite way to waste time here at the Obitmagazine niche), it’s only attributed to the great Russian writer, but it makes a point we think  NRA and their bought-and-paid-for (to use a phrase tossed about by Sean Hannitty and his neo-McCarthyite ilk) politicians  should remember. The problem isn’t that there are madmen roaming the streets or that teachers aren’t armed, it’s that there are too many assault rifles. And even if only a small percentage of them go off in the last act, that’s still too many.

“If in Act I you have a pistol hanging on the wall,
then it must fire in the last act.”

Steven Mirkin
