O-Bits: Funerals and Returns Edition

Stephen Hawking’s funeral over the weekend was the kind of send-off anyone would want. The streets of Cambridge were lined with people hoping to get a last glance at the renowned scientist as his coffin was was carried through the streets of the town where he worked most of his life and the flags were lowered to half-staff. A crowd of 500 people were invited to attend the ceremony at St. Mary the Great Church. Eddie Redmayne, who won an Oscar portraying the young Hawking in “The Theory of Everything,” read from Ecclesiastes, and he was eulogized by Martin Rees, the Royal Astronomer, and his children. Hawking will be cremated, and—in one of the greatest honors Britain can convey—his ashes will be interred in Westminster Abbey, near one of the nation’s greatest scientists, Isaac Newton.

So we’re very excited to hear that the original line-up: Jaz Coleman, Geordie Walker, Paul Ferguson, and friend of Obit, Youth, have reunited for a tour titled “Laugh At Your Own Peril, set to hit America this September.
