Kids today! They just don’t know how to respect their elders. Why, back in our day, if we were mad at our parents, the worst we’d do is go out and get drunk or high, and maybe run away. Modern kids have different ideas.
Take Jared Standley. The 21-year-old was kicked out of his parent’s home, but instead of sulking, or acting out by getting a weird haircut, he showed up at their door with a gun. His father called his brother, saying that if he didn’t call again in 20 minutes, call 911. When the cops showed up, they knew something was up. There was a bullet hole in the front door, and upon entering the house they discovered both parents dead: the father shot once, the mother beaten to death. It was easy to track down Jared; he had driven a rental car to a local motel, where he was taken into custody.
Blood my be thicker than water, but that doesn’t mean adoptive children can’t get into the act. Take Kaleb Taylor, who is charged with killing David and Charla Taylor. It wasn’t the first time Kaleb had taken out hi wrath on his parents; he was found guilty in 2015 of robbing them of $15,000 in jewelry and electronic equipment. No motive has been announced.
Finally, James Eric Davis, Jr. shot and killed his parents while they were visiting his dorm room at Central Michigan University. He had been acting erratically; his parent arrived on campus after he had been hospitalized for babbling incoherently, claiming their was someone one campus after him. They were there to help him pack up for spring break when he shot them both, using his police officer father’s gun. Davis was charged with homicide.
