Dead of the Day: January 5, 2018: Sonny Bono

Sonny Bono, one half of the famed 60’s/70’s pop musical duo Sonny & Cher, died in 1998 at age 62, doing one of his favorite things: skiing. With his buckskin fringe vests and long shag haircut, when they burst onto the scene, both he and Cher changed the styles of the 70’s with their boho flamboyance, and also had many hits – till their famous divorce, and “The Sonny & Cher Show” on tv became “Cher.” When he died, Bono was a Republican representative in the California house.
